FAQs
Does hypnotherapy have a good success rate?

Estimates reveal that 85% of clients will respond to clinical hypnotherapy, even if other conventional types of treatment have failed to produce positive results.
What is the trance state, and how do I get into it?
The hypnotic trance is a state of ‘focused concentration’ in which you are neither fully awake, or fully asleep.
The trance is achieved when the hypnotherapist guides you the client into a very peaceful almost sleep like state of complete body relaxation. Deeply relaxed people are open to suggestion, so, the hypnotic trance state utilises phenomenon for therapeutic purposes such as desensitisation to fears, phobias and pain. In the same way, mental visualisation is used as a means to empower the client to achieve whatever goal they may want to work towards.
I’ve heard my unconscious mind is involved in some way?
Yes, hypnosis is a different state of consciousness to our usual day to day awareness. However, you can easily access these deeper levels of consciousness for therapeutic purposes with the right guidance. In this state, instructions and suggestions can be accepted less critically than in our normal state of conscious awareness. Here, an experienced hypnotherapy practitioner can plant the seeds into the unconscious mind that will ultimately lead to changes in behaviour, beliefs and attitudes.
Will I enjoy the experience?
Of course! You will be in a comfortable position, either sitting or lying down, feeling safe, secure, warm and at ease. All you have to do is sit back, close your eyes and allow the therapist to take you into a deep state of relaxation with words specially chosen for their facilitation of this desired state.
Will I feel relaxed?
Yes, but although your body will be relaxed, your mind will actually be very attentive.

What happens after that?
You will then be guided by the therapist to relax down beneath the flow of habitual patterns of thinking, to a narrowed focus of attention on the particular issues and goals you bring to therapy.
While in the altered awareness of the trance state there is an enhanced capacity to absorb at a deep level the suggestions that are made by the hypnotherapist. Here, the suggestions can be accepted and embedded without the critical analysis we so often engage in.
How does the therapist know which suggestions are right for me?
The suggestions are based on your goals for treatment. What you want to achieve from the session, the changes you want to make, and your visions for the future. This is all agreed beforehand and discussed at length before the actual therapy begins.
